SENIGALLIA

SENIGALLIA
"The city of Sinigaglia is situated at the foot of a mountain, and the marina is less than a mile away. A small river flows nearby, in the area closest to Fano. The road leading to Sinigaglia goes through open spaces and hills, before joining a river that runs along Sinigaglia, which then turns up to the left along the shore of the river; walking towards where the arch is situated, arriving at a bridge which crosses that river and similar to the gate at the entrance of Sinigaglia, not via a straight line but transversely. Adjacent is a village of houses with a piazza, in front of which the river bank shrugs from side to side."

(Niccolò Machiavelli, Description of the way of Duke Valentino in the murder of Vitellozzo Vitelli, Oliverotto da Fermo, Mr. Pagolo and Duke of Gravina Orsini)
